When you order over $30 in commissions with me, you get a free sketch. Here are two (much delayed, sorry about that!) sketches for IhaIhaIha, a customer from deviantART.

Finished the first commission for IhaIhaIha, and am working on the second.

IhaIhaIha - Nori's Mentor 2

Hi folks!

Been a while since I posted something. Here are two pictures, both for other people. The first is an art-trade in progress:

Kick!

And the second is a commission-in-progress:

Nori Progress

Hey folks!

Got 2/3 commissions finished for the wonderfully sweet Marie at the time of this posting. The third one should be done later today, but I figured I’d show you all what I have so far. They’re all profile shot commissions, done during the sale when they were up for only $8, and they have all taken me WAY too long to do, due to me getting the swine flu and acute bronchitis during the course of the orders.

First one was the easiest to do. Her outfit was pretty simple in comparison to the others, which were reaaaally difficult to stylize.

commission-marie-mari-medThis one was a pain in the arse, but I like how it turned out for the most part. The armor gave me hell – it certainly was a learning process! =)

Lastly, a free sketch for Marie, done because she was so wonderfully patient with me throughout her commission. It ended up taking me two entire months to finish – everything on earth seemed to be going wrong. First I lost my pen, then I got loaded with assignments at work, then I got the swine flu, which later developed into acute bronchitis (from which I am still recovering). I was thoroughly embarrassed by how long it was taking me to finish her commission, but she was an enormous sweetheart throughout the entire thing, and infinitely patient. If you’re reading this, thanks for being such a wonderful customer, Marie!

Hi everyone!

Last round of commissions is going on right now. :) I’m at present working on several profile shots for Marie, and here are the preview sketches for the first two characters.

Hope you enjoy! I’ll be back to doing original art once I’m done with these, taking a break before I start commissions again.

Hey all!

Still working on some original art on the side, but for now I’m finishing up some WoW commissions and getting them out of the way.

Here’s Peppygrowlithe’s commission, fully colored:

A progress shot of Gemmeh’s commission. I’m contemplating adding textures to the armor but am not sure yet.

EDIT: Decided not to do the textures! Here’s the finished product for Gemmeh.

Hey all!

Sorry for all the WoW art lately. I have plenty of original works that I’m currently working on, but in the meantime they’re taking second place to commissions. Which, speaking of, I did some more work on the piece for Peppygrowlithe and now have the inks + most of the flats down. This one is probably going to take me a bit longer just because it is sooooo huge! The original sketch file width was around 20,000px, but now has been shrunk to 10,000 (about twice the width I normally work in). Yoikes.

Here’s what I’ve got! Remember, you can click the image twice to see the detail shots.

commission-peppygrowlithe-flats-beginningI’m trying to think of how I can get more commissions for original characters, but I’m not entirely sure where I’d advertise for that. I might ask Alex1ds what she does, since I look up to her a lot (and she gets lots of OC commissions!). If any of you have any suggestions, too, I’d love to hear them. =)

Hey all!

I know I was doing a process show for the commission to ThistleChaser, but unfortunately I hit “save” at a bad time and can no longer go back and show you the flats and whatnot.

In the meantime, here’s a large preview of what I have so far, and two smaller tests. If ThistleChaser likes the avatars, we’ll stick with those, but if not I’ll add (a) new version(s) at the end of the post later.

Hi all! My latest customer, ThistleChaser, requested progress shots of the commission I am doing for him/her, and so here they are. Please note that this is actually an avatar commission, and the final image will be shrunk down to 100×100 pixels. In the meantime, I’m working at 800×800 just so I can ensure that I’ll have clean lines when I shrink the image.

First, I start off with some very basic shapes – usually just a circle for the head, a possible guideline for the body, and some markings for where broad shapes are going to be. Here, I’ve located the character’s head and spaulders.

Rough guides.

Rough guides.

Next, I go through and sketch the details. Sometimes this takes multiple steps and layers, but this time I managed to hammer it out all in one.

Sketch.

I always start my lines by doing the face first, for some reason. It just seems like a good starting point (and the face is my favorite part to draw!).

Partial inks.

Partial inks.

Now that I’ve go the face and some of the hair lined out, I create a new layer and begin to ink the armor on it. This is so that I can just erase whatever lines might go under the original inking, instead of having to erase around them.

Secondary inks.

Secondary inks.

Now that I’ve got most of the picture inked, I go in and add details, fix up mistakes, etc. until I’m satisfied with everything. I usually add another layer to the inks in order to do the little detail lines on the hair, just to make things easier. Sometimes I even add a few more details to the inks while I’m coloring, because you never know what effect the colors might have on your lines.

Voila! The inks are done.

Voila! The inks are done for now.

That’s all I’ve got so far, I’ll update later when I have more work finished.
